Welcome to my website. Here you can learn about me, my life and the tasks our Lord has inspired me to complete with His guidance.
I love teaching and especially love teaching mathematics. My other passions include reading, traveling, helping others succeed, and playing with consumer electronic gadgetry. I reached the age of 66 this past July 2018 and look forward to spending more time traveling with those I love. My grandchildren are also a passion I look forward to enjoying from time to time.
It is said, "If a person finds a job they love, they will never work for the rest of their lives." I have had the great privilege of enjoying a lifestyle well beyond what I would have believed.
I am presently assisting in building people in Cape Town, South Africa through a company (trust) I have jointly organized/founded named Volunteer Educational Support 4 Africa (www.ves4a.org). I assist annually with VOSH (Volunteer Optometric Services to Humanity) through primarily a joint missions program of the Winter Park Presbyterian Church. I have traveled to Manaus, Brazil (2002), Yungay, Peru (2003, 2005), Simileu-Silvania, Romania (2005), Yeguario, Paraguay (2005), Jigjiga, Ethiopia (2006), Greece & Turkey (2006), Ghana, West Africa (2007), Israel (2007, 2009, 2011), and Arequipa, Peru (2008) to name a few places. I have traveled to six continents of the world.
I was formerly Dean and Professor of Mathematics at the west campus of Valencia College located at 1800 South Kirkman Road, Orlando, Florida 32811-2302. I am now enjoying a busy retirement schedule that includes some teaching. I have had the privilege of instructing every mathematics course in the range from algebra through Calculus. The full time staff of 27 faculty with at least 60 additional adjunct faculty and part time staff helped nearly 65 000 students annually at Valencia's four campuses..
I am a double alumnus of the Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University (FAMU) in Tallahassee, Florida where I majored in both Mathematics and Mathematics Education. I have doctorates in both Theology and Mathematics Education from the United Bible College and Seminary (Orlando, Florida) and the University of South Florida (Tampa, Florida), respectively.
My bride of over 41 years is Angela Reed Morris. We both have eight children and thirteen grandchildren. Angela has taught in elementary schools for over 32 years and retired from Orange County Schools September 30, 2015.
I Really Enjoy Teaching!
Dean of Mathematics (Retired)
I served some of the best people in the world including over 60 full time and adjunct faculty. I also assisted in serving approximately 5600 students in mathematics courses per semester on the west campus. I was challenged to grow both as an individual and manager. Our faculty and staff genuinely cared that our students were both successful in mathematics and would positively contribute to our community and culture.
The day-to-day departmental tasks were handled efficiently by two very dedicated assistants in Ms. Debbie Jefferson and Mrs. Christine Belin-Mortera. The current departmental contact number is 407-582-1625. Dr. Blankenship is the current Dean of Mathematics, west campus.

I enjoy teaching. I have known I wanted to teach since the tenth grade. My early instructors in Fort Pierce, Florida appeared to live the life of my dreams. They were well respected by our community and were perfectly positioned in their various areas of influence to help many young students transition into a meaningful life and career.
I have taught at Valencia since 1975 and remember when there were only four (4) buildings on the west campus with orange groves surrounding the campus area. Kirkman Road was then a two-laned road with east campus opening the same year. There were eight (8) full time Math faculty including Mr. Louis Edwards, Chair of Mathematics. The other seven full time faculty included Don Whelchel, Joe Lewis, Gisela Rosch (deceased), Wayne Jacobs, Ben Cheatham, Lee Sathre, and myself.
Campus Crusade for Christ Faculty Advisor
I was the faculty advisor to Campus Crusade for Christ for several years. I most enjoyed seeing the successful and innovative programs that assisted in developing the Valencia students as evidenced by the rich reception of gospel truths and the resulting deep change in the lives of students. Dr. Barry Bunn succeeded me as the faculty advisor to Campus Crusade for Christ.

I have performed several original songs including "Love, Love is in Christ", "There's Joy for the Comforter Has Come", and "Let's Just Praise the Lord our God".

Healthcare Center for the Homeless
I currently serve as past chair of the board of directors for the Healthcare Center for the Homeless (see www.hcch.org). I have served as a board member since 1998. I currently volunteer about once a week as an outreach specialist with the H.O.P.E. (Hope Outreach Partners Effort) Team. We serve nearly 157 homeless camps with approximately 10,000 clients throughout the tri-county area.
Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity
I have been a member of the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity since the spring of 1970. I pledged originally at the Beta Nu chapter of the Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University in Tallahassee, Florida. I was the seventh of the Seven Titans of Thebes. Our line was a jewel line since Alpha has seven founders (December 4, 1906).
My other volunteer work
I serve as Senior Bishop and CEO of the Tribes of EL Bethel Temple of Jesus International, a six church consortium of ministries aimed at meeting the total needs of the total man. Our vision statement is found at www.elbetheltemple.org. My monthly visits to the six churches and calendar are recorded also at www.elbetheltemple.org. I also assist in the development of three additional churches in the Central Florida area and other churches outside the Central Florida area.
I maintain an active travel schedule as the outreach burden to world communities expands. I have preached/taught in Jamaica, Barbados, the twin island countries of Trinidad and Tobago, and some states in the US. I have served in many cities in Florida as well. I plan annual trips to Cape Town, South Africa in an outreach teaching project to Portland High School in the Mitchell's Plain subdivision. A result of this outreach has been the founding of a not-for-profit trust, Volunteer Educational Support 4 Africa (www.ves4a.org). I am also involved in the semi-monthly prison ministry outreach to the Lake County Correctional Institution (LCCI) inmates. I have formerly served as volunteer chaplain to LCCI twice weekly.
I and other American colleagues have been periodically involved with assisting H.E.L.P. Ministries in the Landsdowne area of Cape Town, South Africa. This ministry feeds over 5,000 children every school day and over 1,000 unemployed adults. You may find additional information at www.help-ministries.org.
My volunteer community work was cited in receiving the 1996 Exemplary Service to Community Award at Valencia Community College's graduation ceremony.
